Never Say Die
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me...and I will love you. Forever.
Saydie Mason-
Saydie Lynn Mason is 19 years old and has been that way for a couple centuries now. Born of the Devil and her human mother on January 9, 1788, she has now been alive for over 220 years and has wandered the earth alone for most of that time. She came into her demon power at 19 and from that point onward was genetically frozen in time, destined to remain a 19 year old forever.
As a soul collector for her father, Saydie is able to live a life among humans without anyone being the wiser. Her job doesn't demand her time very frequently which allows her to peruse hobbies and interests at her leisure, but having hobbies is no substitute for having a good friend.
She does everything possible to keep most humans at a reasonable emotional distance to prevent them from realizing that she's immortal and doesn't age. While she likes to keep in touch with the few friends that she meets in her travels, she tries not to get too close to anyone.
Saydie is suspicious of all other demons whether part human or not and does everything she can to avoid them whenever possible. She avoids her father quite often for the simple reason that being around him influences her to be more like a demon and less like a human.
Eventually Saydie finally finds a close friend in Flannigan Emery, whom she finds is hiding a secret of her own, making her the perfect best friend for someone like Saydie. Flan helps Saydie through the ups and downs of living a human life as a demon and falling in love for the first time.
Flannigan Emery-
Flannigan Michelle Emery is 19 years old and in her second year at Wharton University with a major in literature. She keeps a secret from Saydie until she finds that the time is right to disclose it and is glad to find that Saydie accepts her.
Living in a crappy apartment on the west side of town, Flannigan finds herself in a tight spot when her landlord raises her rent to a price that she can no longer afford. Distraught over having to move back home and either transfer schools, quit or commute from her home town of Cala, Flan finds her saving grace when she meets Saydie who graciously offers to share her home.
Flan constantly worries about Saydie and is always looking out for her. As a "Seer" she recognizes Saydie for what she is but is un-deterred by the fact. She learns that she needs Saydie as much as Saydie needs her and they stand side by side through whatever life throws at them.
Rhys Davis-
Rhys William Davis is the captain of the Wharton Wolverines football team, recently finding himself in need of a bit of extra spending cash, he offers to help his aunt at her coffee shop. When he meets Saydie, she's like no girl he's ever met before and from the moment he lays eyes on her he knows that she's special.
After breaking up with his snobby girlfriend Veronica, Rhys is pleased to run into Saydie at a local grocery store and all thoughts of his breakup are forgotten. Though this girl thoroughly boggles his mind with how attracted he is to her, he knows that pursuing her is the right thing to do. He doesn't know how he knows, he just does.
As the youngest of three children, Rhys manages to find his place in the world miles away from his home in Long Island, while his older siblings make their lives in new York. With a double major in Business and Economics, he plans to return home and take up his place in the family business.
